Will God answer your prayer to make life easier?

Only 2 times in New Testament (that I know of) did someone ask God to make life easier…both times God said NO!

The first and primary example is of Jesus. Matthew 26:39 “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me. Yet, not as I will, but as you will.” The Lord Jesus Christ asks God the Father if there is another way to fulfill His Will right before he is betrayed by Judas and captured to be crucified for our sins. There was no other way. The cup would not pass from Christ.

The second example is of Paul. In 2 Cor. 12, Paul explains how he asked God to remove a thorn from his side three times. Yet, God said no. God said, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.”

In American culture we are determined to get what we want when we want it. We are determined to pray for our the easiest life possible. This is not always what God wants.

Rush Limbaugh…why?

Okay,
So Rush Limbaugh said something really strange Tuesday.
“I Hope Obama Fails.”
Okay so I am conservative. Maybe I did not vote for Obama, maybe I did…
But despite political differences and all, no one should wish failure on our President. For the good of America, our country, even if you do not agree with their politics and even if you do not like them, why would you wish failure on them?

This is ridiculous. Sure, I can see Limbaugh’s argument about liberalism and socialism, but I think he is stretching it.

I think Rush just likes attention. He gets in the news when he does ridiculous things and says stupid things. And I have to admit, I have not always liked Rush and his stances on certain issues. He speaks for conservatives and sometimes, I feel that my voice is heard, but then there are times like this when Rush is just idiotic.

Rather I want to see Obama be successful. I want America to get out of war, out of economic trouble, and start making smart changes for the environment and the economy.

I may not like HOW we are going get there. And when I think the administration is going against what I believe, I will stand up against it. But yet, I am for certain changes, changes for the better. Unlike Rush Limbaugh apparently.

Is secular humanism to blame for our nation’s breach into a post-Christian society?

First what is secular humanism?

Secular humanism is a humanist philosophy that upholds reason, ethics and justice, and specifically rejects the supernatural and the spiritual as the basis of moral reflection and decision-making. Like other types of humanism, secular humanism is a life stance focusing on the way human beings can lead good and happy lives.

How is it contributing to our society in a bad way?

Yes. In a number of ways! I will briefly go over a few. Here is a great chart!
Humanists usually do not believe that God even exists. Humanists believe mankind is the highest entity. (“Man is the measure of all things.”)
Humanism see man as basically good. Thinks that people should feel good about themselves regardless of their behavior. Tries to deal with guilt by positive self-talk.
Rejects the idea of a “sin nature.” Believes that whatever I want to do is ok, as long as it “doesn’t hurt anyone else.” (But is often shortsighted in deciding what may hurt someone else!) Tendency to rationalize that all behavior that I wish to do is acceptable.
Humanists believe some things are right for some people and some situations that may be “wrong” for other people and other situations. There is no absolute right and wrong. Everything depends on the situation.

Do you see how all of this can lead to post-modernism!

What does post-Christian mean? Are we there?

a post-Christian world is one where Christianity is no longer the dominant civil religion, but one that has, gradually over extended periods of time, assumed values, culture, and worldviews that are not necessarily Christian (and further may not necessarily reflect any world religion’s standpoint).

America is leaning that way. I do believe.

Here is a good article discussing the differences in Christianity and Secular humanism and some great links.

Hollow men with hollow faith

American Christianity has become the periphery faith. Christianity is no longer the center of a Christian’s identify, but just another facet of one’s life. I’ve been reading Philosophical Foundation For a Christian Worldview by Moreland and Craig.

It is a sad reality but true. The main institution of Western American civilization is the University. But Universities are no longer teaching truth and theology. Becuase Universities have lost sight of truth, so has our nation. “False ideas are the greatest obstacle to the reception of the Gospel.”
Christian faith in America is wide but not deep. Hollow men, empty shelves that do not know what they believe. Christians used to be able to argue basic fundamental arguments for their faith but today American Christians are very shallow and lost the understandings of philosophy and theology.
R.C. Sproul has called this the most anti-intellectual period in the history of the of the church!

That sucks! Let us not continue to be this way. Our generation is not as cultivated in the realms of philosophy, intellect, history, theology as our previous forefathers! Let us make serious change!

Cool addition findings from Gallup.

think gas price is bad in America….?

CNN keeps track of gas prices worldwide: Keep this site as a bookmark as a reminder that someone else is paying more than you per gallon!

Good article from Washington Post

Here is a good Youtube video about WHY gas prices are so high right now and will continue to rise more soon and continually.

The video then suggests a product that will suppose-ably help save money by increasing your fuel mileage and save money…I am not endorsing this product. But I thought the video was insightful.
