music video I am in…a cover of a Toby Mac song, it was fun!
A part of my life that I miss is music.
During most of my life I have played in a band. Not always the same band but continually in a group nonetheless.
I recorded an album of myself for fun last year.
Now I occasionally write songs but this area of my life is lacking and not as active as it has been in the past and I miss that.
It is not only my own music playing and ability but music in general…
I have 30GBs of music on my computer but much of it is forgotten.
It is great music (old and new) but I just haven’t got the time to just listen to music like I used to.
It is strange how all this occurring, I love music and it has always been a part of my life but right not it is not as big of my life as usual. I miss that…
so here is to a random day off of me playing guitar and forgetting about the rest of my life…it was fun
The Scrubs Theme Song by The Blanks (Aka “Ted’s Band”)
Played at the end of the last Scrubs episode this week 😦
While Broken Hearts Prevail EP
What I dislike: Screaming (a little too much for me) on some of the tracks. I know that many hardcore fans love the screaming and remind them of “the older days.” I am not going to sit here and say that this EP is more like going back to the roots of “Old school” Emery. It is a good EP, but Emery is a progress band. Every album is a little different.
What I am neutral to: The theme of the album. Break-up, Girls, new beginnings. Great Emery songs are typically about girls. Emery album themes are usually related as well to such things like girls, break-ups, sex, etc. It gets a little old, but the songs are still great.
What I like:
1. harmonies in singing, not screaming.
2. The synth/keyboard background
3. “Thoughtlife” both versions! The original version reminds me of Relient K, strangely enough.
4. “Do the Things (You Want)
What I love: “Edge of the World.”
I got the new album and I love it. It is really catchy.
At first I was thinking that some of the songs are a little harder/darker than their last album, but that is not really true the more I think about it. Anberlin has always had those tough songs that make you think on all of their previous albums. They are always catchy and stick with you even if they are a little dark.
Although not all of the songs are that way. Some of the songs in New Surrender are really upbeat and happy.
I hear a little bit of Relient K, Coldplay, classic/orginal Anberlin, and Switchfoot in this album.
My two favorite songs right now are: Burn out brighter and Haight Street
But I do not dislike any of them.
And I have a great appreciation for the cleverness of the song Breaking.
You can, really for free! Why pay when it is free?
Hint: Use freeware software like Audacity to open non-DRM and non -protected music files
then cut the part of the song you want
then export it as mp3
send it to your phone via email or bluetooth or cable hock-up
If the file is DRM or protected you still can do this put first you have to convert the file to a non-protected format
There are legal and illegal ways to do this
I will mention a legal way:
Purchase (or download the free trail version) of Sound Taxi.
*With the free version you can only convert the first minuet or two of each song, but for ringtones at the beginning of a song, this is fine!)
I never thought it would be a worthwhile investment to purchase an Ipod Shuffle, so I have NEVER bought one…
but I won a shuffle recently and I love it already!
1. It is small and works way better for exercising than my big old 30 Ipod Classic gigger!
2. It is so small and light, it is easy to hide and perfect for taking anywhere!
I am not sure how long the battery life is but so far it is not too bad. And the only other thing I miss is the ability to look at a screen and see what song is playing.
